The Wall
"Where East meets West"
"The Wall" or also more commonly regarded as "The Berlin Wall" in West Germany and to the rest of the world was known in the east of
Germany (former German Democratic Republic) as the "Anti-Fascist Protective Rampart", which separated West Germany from East Germany at
August 1963. Its intent was to restrict access between West Berlin and East Germany. Until its (almost) complete demolition, beginnng in
November 1989, the Berlin Wall was one of the most recognised symbols and harsh reminder of the Cold War. Many fell victim in trying to
defy its purpose
